Stumped

Stumped was one of the last movies that Raveena Tandon was seen in . It was cricket versus the war. Cricket was shown as a self indulgent game while the true heroes were at war to save a country.

The movie which was released in 2003 also starred Alyy Khan and Salman Khan was seen in a song sequence.

The movie goers also caught glimpses of cricketers like Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev.

Raveena Tandon who also produced the movie was accused of plagiarism.

IPL’s Closing Ceremony

IPL, after quite  a fuss in India, was taken to South Africa. With Shilpa Shetty, Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Juhi Chawla cheering for their teams, IPL had a good run in SA.

It was clouded with rumours of the King Khan selling his team the Kolkata Knight Riders and Preity Zinta breaking up with co-owner of Punjab XI and boyfriend Ness Wadia.

Katrina Kaif who was the Royal Challengers Bangalore‘s mascot turned out to be lucky as they reached upto the finals.

The closing ceremony saw her dancing with international star Akon and to A.R. Rahman‘s Jai Ho.

Pataudi-Tagore

One of the most regal couples (literally) who have brought together cricket and Bollywood are Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi and Sharmila Tagore.

The couple met in 1965. Mansoor Ali Khan who was a big name in cricket and led the Indian cricket team apart from being the Nawab of Pataudi pursued Sharmila Tagore which ended in their marriage in 1969.

They had three children – Saba, Soha and Saif.  Soha Ali Khan and Saif Ali Khan both have made  a name for themselves in Bollywood.

Saif taking a cue from his father is currently woo-ing Kareena Kapoor, after divorcing his wife Amrita Singh. His marriage to Singh was vehemently opposed by Sharmila and Mansoor.

Dhoni and Tendulkar

What do Dhoni & Tendulkar have in common other than cricket? Movies!

Both cricketers are turning actors.

Sachin Tendulkar will be acting in a cameo in Vighnaharta Shri Siddhivinayak, which will be directed by Rajiv Sanghvi. He is a devotee of the Elephant God which is why he has agreed to be part of the movie without pay!

Mahendra Singh Dhoni is all set to play a role in David Dhawan‘s Hook Ya Crook, which stars John Abraham, Kay Kay Menon, Shreyas Talpade and Genelia D’Souza.

The Deepika Show

Deepika Padukone and cricket are inseparable. After being linked with cricketers M.S.Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, Deepika may have gone off field when she settled for Ranbir Kapoor.

She made headlines in Bollywood working with Shah Rukh Khan in her debut Om Shanthi Om, Akshay Kumar in Chandni Chowk to China and Ranbir Kapoor in Bachna Ae Haseeno.

The next Khan on the list is Kareena’s beau, Saif Ali Khan, with whom she is working on his first home production Love Aaj Kal.

But our lady will be back on field and this time not as any cricketer’s arm candy. She will be seen as a guest commentator for the T20 World Cup.

SRK-KKR: End of game?

Shah Rukh Khan seems to be in a fix this IPL season. First, his ciggie was frowned upon by the anti-tobacco squad. And then the Kolkata Knight Rider‘s hit rock bottom and are happy sitting there.

So what does a winner do? Instead of twiddling his fingers in South Africa, he takes a flight back to India. To vote, he says. And vote, he did.

He will also be shaking his leg at  a rich kid’s wedding.  And refuses to go back until the KKR pick up speed.  In the meanwhile, Juhi Chawla was left twiddling her  fingers in South Africa.

There are also rumours that he is planning to sell his stake and there appears to be no takers.

Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty on the other hand are completely at home in South Africa.
