IPL’s Closing Ceremony

IPL, after quite  a fuss in India, was taken to South Africa. With Shilpa Shetty, Shah Rukh Khan, Preity Zinta and Juhi Chawla cheering for their teams, IPL had a good run in SA.

It was clouded with rumours of the King Khan selling his team the Kolkata Knight Riders and Preity Zinta breaking up with co-owner of Punjab XI and boyfriend Ness Wadia.

Katrina Kaif who was the Royal Challengers Bangalore‘s mascot turned out to be lucky as they reached upto the finals.

The closing ceremony saw her dancing with international star Akon and to A.R. Rahman‘s Jai Ho.

The Deepika Show

Deepika Padukone and cricket are inseparable. After being linked with cricketers M.S.Dhoni and Yuvraj Singh, Deepika may have gone off field when she settled for Ranbir Kapoor.

She made headlines in Bollywood working with Shah Rukh Khan in her debut Om Shanthi Om, Akshay Kumar in Chandni Chowk to China and Ranbir Kapoor in Bachna Ae Haseeno.

The next Khan on the list is Kareena’s beau, Saif Ali Khan, with whom she is working on his first home production Love Aaj Kal.

But our lady will be back on field and this time not as any cricketer’s arm candy. She will be seen as a guest commentator for the T20 World Cup.

SRK-KKR: End of game?

Shah Rukh Khan seems to be in a fix this IPL season. First, his ciggie was frowned upon by the anti-tobacco squad. And then the Kolkata Knight Rider‘s hit rock bottom and are happy sitting there.

So what does a winner do? Instead of twiddling his fingers in South Africa, he takes a flight back to India. To vote, he says. And vote, he did.

He will also be shaking his leg at  a rich kid’s wedding.  And refuses to go back until the KKR pick up speed.  In the meanwhile, Juhi Chawla was left twiddling her  fingers in South Africa.

There are also rumours that he is planning to sell his stake and there appears to be no takers.

Preity Zinta and Shilpa Shetty on the other hand are completely at home in South Africa.

Cricket has a new celebrity cheering for it.

Shilpa Shetty has joined the IPL craze…if Preity Zinta stands for the Mohali team, Shah Rukh Khan for Kolkata Knight Riders, this year Shilpa Shetty and boyfriend Raj Kundra hold a piece of the Rajasthan Royals. The Celebrity Big Brother winner even threw in a dance number to bring cheer to her team and supporters.

Cricket saw Bollywood lining up in full force as IPL kicked off last year.

Shah Rukh Khan along with Juhi Chawla and her husband Jai Mehta took over the Kolkata Knight Riders which was the most profitable team if not the winner.  On board were Sourav Ganguly, Ricky Ponting and Shoaib Akhtar.

The team colours were gold and black, the theme  Korbo, Lorbo, Jeetbo Re, with SRK even releasing a video.

With the next season set to take off, Shah Rukh Khan is building up the interest with a talent hunt for cheerleaders called Knights & Angels anchored by Purab. On the judge panel are his co-star from Rab Ne Bana Di Kya Jodi Anushka Sharma and Darr co-star Juhi Chawla, with Shiamak Davar choreographing the cheers. It is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and aired on NDTV Imagine.
